KOREA CAR IMPORT PROCESS
The Korea car import process with ZenithCars covers every stage, from selecting a vehicle and reviewing its history to purchase, export, sea freight, customs clearance and delivery in Europe.
Cars can be purchased from current Korean dealer inventory or closed Korean car auctions. Every vehicle is selected individually and purchased only after the client reviews the available information, inspection materials and expected costs.
STEP 1
TELL US WHICH CAR YOU ARE LOOKING FOR
The process begins with your requirements. Tell us which make, model, year, engine, mileage, equipment and colour you prefer. We also need your maximum budget and the country where the vehicle will be delivered.
You can browse current cars offered by Korean dealers on our platform and send us a link to a specific vehicle. If you cannot find the right car, we can search dealer inventory and closed auctions according to your requirements.
At this stage, we consider not only the vehicle price but also the expected inspection, export, shipping, customs and delivery costs. This allows us to focus on cars that make sense within your complete purchase budget.
STEP 2
INITIAL VEHICLE VERIFICATION
After selecting a potential vehicle, we confirm whether the offer is still available and review the information provided by the dealer or auction.
Depending on the vehicle and its source, we may check the identification number, declared mileage, ownership records, reported damage, insurance claims, replaced body panels, factory equipment, documents and eligibility for legal export from South Korea.
We also compare the specification and price with other available cars. A low advertised price is not enough to recommend a purchase if the vehicle has an unclear history, unsuitable specification or excessive total import cost.
Only vehicles that pass the initial history and documentation review proceed to the next stage.
STEP 3
VEHICLE INSPECTION IN SOUTH KOREA
If the initial verification is satisfactory, we determine the appropriate inspection method for the selected vehicle.
For dealer vehicles, we can arrange a physical inspection at the seller’s location or after agreeing on access to the car. For auction vehicles, the available inspection options depend on the auction conditions, location and time remaining before the sale.
The inspection may include:
- Bodywork and panel alignment
- Paint condition and paint thickness
- Interior condition
- Operation of the available equipment
- Electronic systems and computer diagnostics
- Engine compartment
- Underbody and visible mechanical components
- Wheels, tyres and brakes
The client receives the available photographs, video materials and inspection findings before making the final decision. If the vehicle does not correspond with the offer, we recommend withdrawing from the purchase and selecting another car.
STEP 4
COST CALCULATION AND CLIENT APPROVAL
After the vehicle has been reviewed, we prepare an individual calculation based on the selected car and destination.
The calculation may include:
- Vehicle purchase price
- Transaction and service costs
- Inspection
- Domestic transport in South Korea
- Warehouse and export handling
- Export documentation
- Sea freight and port charges
- Customs duties and applicable taxes
- Delivery to the requested address
The final amount depends on the vehicle, engine, purchase method, shipping route and destination country. For this reason, every calculation is prepared for a specific car.
The vehicle is not purchased until the client has reviewed the available information, inspection materials and expected costs, then provides final purchase approval.
STEP 5
AGREEMENT, PAYMENT AND VEHICLE PURCHASE
After the client approves the vehicle and calculation, we confirm the scope of service, payment stages and purchase conditions.
For a dealer vehicle, we confirm the final price and availability with the seller before completing the transaction. For an auction vehicle, we agree on the maximum bidding amount before participating. We never exceed the approved budget without the client’s permission.
The required payments are completed by bank transfer according to the agreed schedule and transaction documents. After the purchase is confirmed, we arrange collection of the vehicle from the dealer or auction location.
Every vehicle is therefore selected and approved before purchase. We do not replace the chosen car with another vehicle without the client’s consent.
STEP 6
COLLECTION, STORAGE AND EXPORT DOCUMENTS
After purchase, the vehicle is collected from the dealer or auction and transported to our climate controlled warehouse in South Korea.
The car does not go directly to the port. It remains at our facility while we document its condition, complete the deregistration process and prepare the paperwork required for legal export and international transport.
Preparing the export documents normally takes several days, depending on the vehicle and document availability. During this time, the car is stored securely rather than waiting in the port area.
Once the documentation is complete, we book the appropriate sea transport and coordinate the date on which the vehicle must be delivered for loading.
STEP 7
SHIPPING THE CAR FROM KOREA
After the export documents are ready, we arrange sea transport from South Korea. Depending on the vehicle, destination and current shipping connections, transport may take place in a container or through Ro Ro shipping.
The vehicle is transported from our warehouse to the port shortly before the planned loading date. This reduces unnecessary waiting at the port and gives us greater control over the car until it is transferred for shipment.
Before transport, we document the vehicle’s condition. After departure, the client receives the available shipping information and estimated arrival date.
Our team coordinates the booking, export documents, domestic transport, port delivery and loading as part of the complete car shipping process from Korea.
STEP 8
CUSTOMS CLEARANCE AND DELIVERY IN EUROPE
When the vehicle reaches Europe, we coordinate port handling and customs clearance. The client receives information about the required documents, payments and the next steps needed to release the car from the port.
Customs duties, taxes, technical requirements and registration procedures depend on the destination country and the individual vehicle. We prepare the available Korean vehicle documents and export paperwork required for the customs process.
After customs clearance, we can organise transport to a private address, company, workshop, detailing studio or another location selected by the client.
The Korea car import process is completed when the vehicle and its available documents are delivered to the agreed destination in Europe.
